Hello there matters.
In recent times we've seen a real increase in the number of English south coast matters so it only seems fair that we sort a meet up in their neck of the woods. We'll have a couple of meets this winter so the question is, which do we have on the south coast?
November or February? Let's have your preferences.
Can people have a think. It will also involve a trek up for many of the Cornish contingent so places to crash will be handy.
We also need the locals to give us the benefit of their wisdom on this. We need a spot which isn't zooed and has a good filming position. Also, waves with a half mile paddle aren't really suitable unless somebody has a boat to film from.
So, let's have your thoughts and some idea of who'd be up for the trek.
Cheers

Best wave is K bay, if it,s on then you can film from cliff or on the bench itself (rock shelf )there is a left and right it doesn,t usally get to crowed but if it,s any bigger than 4ft it is not a begginners wave . The bench can only be surfed at the weekend that would leave the bay and ledges both fun waves. You need ground swell for it to work so best to have a few dates to keep options open.
Ive wanted to surf there for a while. We should do one soon and make the most of whats left of the light?
South coast, I'm in :)
I've got a few spots that I could tell you about!
I'm keen - only one session on the mat so far..... Sooner rather than later works for me.
I've had a chat with a couple pc people and a sound idea seems to be to aim to hold this in the Bournemouth area but to make Widemouth area a back up and call it 5 days before.
Always gonna be tricky so we need the backup but we'll do all we can to hold it up there.
Any thoughts on that are very welcome.

I've had a couple of good vibes from people in Cornwall prepared to make the trip up so looking good!
Be good to hear from some more too. The Widdy as back up idea seems a good one following my chat with Blimp so car sharing would seem like a good idea at both ends.

I'd be up for a trip daan sarf. Sooner the better eh?

My thinking on early Nov was two-fold:
1) Gives 3 months between meets. 4 a year seems to work well.
2) Increases the liklihood of waves on a fickle bit of coast (no offence to them what are there).

I'm up for a bit of a road trip.
I haven't surfed the south coast since leaving the Isle of Wight in the mid 90s
What do people say to the weekend of 5/6th Nov?
A massive asteroid is due to pass crazily close to the earth the following Tuesday so it'd be good to get on in just in case!

This meet will go off on the weekend of 5/6th Nov unless people call for otherwise.
Gonna set a deadline of this Sunday (18th Sept) for people to say yay or neigh.

Just had an email pointing out that 5/6th is bonfire weekend so might not be ideal. So we need to go before or after. The weekend before is Halloween so that's out so let's vote on the following ASAP:
22/23rd October
12/13th November (13th is Remembrance Sunday).
Personally, I'd prefer October. Only five weeks or so, so Chop chop on the voting!!!

Right then. More chit-chat and it seems many don't care about bonfire night.
I've stuck a poll up (see the righthand side of the blog). Can you ALL tick any dates you can make.
Closes midnight Sunday for me to call it Monday.
Cheers

All should be good for me : )
I believe you're right Matt. Don't think its looking likely though.

I've just checked my shifts and the ONLY dates I can make as it stands are the 22/23 Oct. I'm going to try and change my annual leave in November which would open up the 12/13th November but my application may well be rejected?
Voting on dates closes at midnight tonight.

I will be in Bude 16th to 22nd October, anybody up for a session in that period please let me know,
cheers

I'd start a new post on that Henry. That'll get lost in this lot. I'll be surfing obviously. :-)
Just in case anyone missed it, the date for this is now set HERE
